Holiday Cheer with Vocal Ensemble

Vocal Ensemble spread lots of holiday cheer over Thanksgiving weekend! On Nov. 28th they sang for the Revolution Woodfire Grille Tree Lighting in Lambertville. On Nov. 30th they sang for the New Hope Tree Lighting at the Logan Inn.

Vocal Ensemble performed with the Riverside Symphonia on December 6th for their holiday concert "Sounds of the Season" at the First Presbyterian Church in Lambertville. Students prepared multiple pieces to sing with the orchestra and were able to work with maestro Mariusz Smolij.

The Nutcracker

On Friday, December 5th, students joined Mrs. DiStaulo for a festive field trip to see The Roxey Ballet Company's The Nutcracker.

Student & Athlete of the Month

Congratulations to November Student of the Month MacKenna Healy and November Athlete of the Month Lucy Reed.

Over the last two years, Lucy Reed helped to build South's Cross Country team not just because of her running achievements (which are many and impressive) but also because she led by example with her focus on taking running seriously and her hard work to be the best she can be.

As a result, the team learned from Lucy and grew better because of her influence. Just as importantly, Lucy made it fun to be on this team. She created videos for the athlete-run Instagram account doing "news reports" from team meets. She entertained her teammates with stories and was always upbeat and encouraging.

As for her running achievements this season, (despite nagging injuries), Lucy still managed to show up in big ways. She led the team at the Skyland Conference to a second place team finish in the Mountain Division (the highest the team as placed in many years). A few weeks later, Lucy led the team at the Central Group 1 Sectionals meet to a fourth place team finish which qualified the team for  “Groups”. (This is the first time in 10 years that a South Cross Country team has achieved this).

Head Coach Guy Ambrosino often tells his athletes, “Show up for your team and for yourself,” and this is what Lucy has continually done. For this and many other reasons, she received the Most Valuable Runner Award at South's team banquet

Below is a list all of Lucy's achievements this 2025 Cross Country Season:

  • Named to First Team Skyland Conference Mountain Division
  • Named to Second Team All County (Hunterdon County)
  • 11th Place (of 64 Girls) at Sectionals (Central Group 1), Leading her team to qualify for The Group 1 State Championship for the first time in 10 years. Saturday November 1, 2025
  • Second place (of 29 girls, Mountain Division) Skyland Conference at Phillipsburg, October 14, 2025
  • 51st Place (of 612 Girls!) at the Wild Safari Meet, September 27, 2025 (Wild Safari is one of the most competitive Cross Country Meets in NJ)
  • First Place (of 26 Girls) in a tri-meet against Sommerville and Manville, September 17, 2025
  • First Place (of Forty Girls) at the Petty Classic Invitational at Del. Val.,  September 9, 2025
