Art Show

The first annual district art show was held at South Hunterdon High School on May 2nd from 6-8pm. Student work from grades Pre-K through 12th grade was on display! It was truly remarkable to observe the talent and creativity that is evident in all grade levels!

Trip to Historic Courthouse

Students joined Social Studies teacher Mr. Vocke for a trip to the Hunterdon County Historic Courthouse in Flemington. Sheriff Brown and Judge Buchsbaum gave the students a tour of the recently restored courthouse and jail, built in 1828, which is the site of the famous Lindbergh kidnapping trial in 1935. Students took part in an in depth discussion about the justice system as well as the Lindbergh case.

Environmental Club Trip

The Environmental Club had the opportunity to work with our local Watershed Ambassador on a stream sampling trip to Frenchtown Creek. Students put on waders, got in the water, and collected macroinvertebrates to assess the health of the stream ecosystem.

Using identification keys and guidance from our ambassador, students identified a variety of aquatic insects, including mayflies, aquatic worms, lunged snails, and caddisfly larvae—indicators of good water quality. It was a great hands-on experience that connected what we’ve learned about in our club to real-world environmental science.

Talent Show

The annual SHR Talent Show on April 25th featured students grades 5-12. It was a great night of singing, dancing, and instruments to showcase many of the talented students at South!
