Performing Arts students closed out the month of March with a wonderful weekend trip to New York City where they performed and bonded through music, art and storytelling. On Friday, March 28th, the choir performed on the 86th floor of the Empire State Building, the main, open-air observation deck. They also saw a fantastic performance of Hadestown, an amazing musical at the Walter Kerr Theatre. It was a hit and everyone on the trip really loved it! The performers were incredibly talented with many students stunned and inspired by the music and storytelling.

On Saturday, March 29th, students experienced a puppet workshop, working with the puppets used in Lion King on Broadway. They learned what it was like to make puppets come to life through different styles of performance. Next, the concert band performed on the USS Intrepid. The band had a stellar performance in front of a large crowd despite the windy atmosphere! Following the performance, the band spent a few hours exploring the amazing museum on the ship.

Later, students enjoyed a dinner at Ellen's Stardust Diner, where the friendly wait staff entertained them with music and singing. It was truly an amazing and unique dining experience! From there, the South crew saw the NYC Philharmonic Orchestra, a phenomenal strings and brass performance of Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony, Cindy McTee's "Double Play," and John Corigliano's "Triathlon" with an incredible Saxophone Soloist.

Students wrapped up their time in New York on Sunday with workshops hosted by two different professors. The choir met with the first professor and the band met with the second, both teaching valuable skills and tools to grow as musical artists. Finally, the trip ended with a cruise to the Statue of Liberty where students departed home.

The trip was jam packed with many memorable experiences shared among a wonderful group of students who all behaved well and had so much fun together! Special thanks to Mr. Stephens, Ms. Alam and Mrs. DiStaulo for orchestrating a beautiful experience for South students, and to senior Dylan Matz for sharing a written recollection of the trip and junior Giselle Alvarez for recording a vlog which will be shared through
Eagles Insider at a later date.
Owowcow Fundraiser

The senior class hosted a fundraiser at Owowcow in Lambertville from Thursday April 3rd through Sunday April 6th. Members of the Class of 2025 became guest scoopers, too, with a special Class of 2025 Sundae! Thank you to everyone who came out to support the senior class while enjoying yummy ice cream, and special thanks to Owowcow for their hospitality.
