Night at the Nest

South Hunterdon's 15th Annual Night at the Nest took place on Friday March 14th and Saturday March 15th. The theme this year was "A Night on Broadway."

Each team spent several weeks creating a total team dance which captured the overall theme of Broadway. The teams then faced off in four different, exciting events each night. It was a great two nights of fun and friendly competition with the community going wild cheering for both teams. The Blue Team defeated the Steel Team 148 to 120.

Congratulations to the members of the Blue Team, and all participating students for their hard work and determination. Special thanks to all Night at the Nest Advisors for helping to create a wonderful night showcasing South spirit and community.

NHS Inductees Honor Ms. Dey

When newly inducted NHS students Henry Brusca, Tess Cathey-Jordan, Anika Balog and Hailey Kurylo were asked to name a teacher who inspired them, they chose Ms. Dey. Ms. Dey is celebrating 20 years of service at South Hunterdon, and she has impacted many students during her time here. Thank you Ms. Dey, for all that you do!

"Being a teacher is hard because it requires someone to teach multiple people to understand the same thing even if they get there in different ways. Ms. Dey had that skill. She would pause the class to make sure everyone understood what was being taught.

She is more than a teacher, she talks about her everyday life which makes her a relatable person, easy to learn from, and someone you're excited to learn from. What I plan for my future is different because of the impact Ms. Dey had on me."

- Henry Brusca, 11th Grade

"Mrs. Dey always took extra time to explain something to me if I was confused and offered her support. This was the first time a teacher had gone out of their way to help enhance my learning.

She never made me feel silly for asking questions, even when they were silly questions. Instead of walking into class preparing myself for 80 minutes of boredom, I always walked into class excited to learn, which up until that point had never happened in a math class."

-Tess Cathey-Jordan, 11th Grade

"Beyond your teaching methods, your dedication to taking time to get to know each student is so meaningful. You understand our strengths and weaknesses, and always encourage each and every one of us to reach our full potential. Your door is always open and you are always willing to lend a helping hand or just be there to listen if we need someone."

-Anika Balog, 11th Grade

"Her passion for math was contagious. I always felt like math was a harder subject, but once she was my teacher, everything changed.

She made me want to get better, and it became easy to understand the material we were learning. Mrs. Dey made me excited to go to class everyday and learn a subject I never knew could be so manageable. She is so enthusiastic and puts everyone in a great mood, making the whole class eager to learn."

-Hailey Kurylo, 11th Grade
