Congratulations to Senior Edward Cooper who was honored at the Mini-Maxwell Awards Dinner on Sunday, February 2nd at the Drexelbrook Club. Edward was selected as one of the top football players in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. In celebration of his accomplishments, we caught up with Ed to learn more about playing football for South Hunterdon.

Q: How has football shaped your experience at South?
EC: Football has made my experience at South much better. From the friendships and relationships with my coaches and teammates to feeling the support from the whole school on Friday nights. I have loved South football from start to finish and would recommend to anyone thinking about playing football to give it a shot.

Q: What was it like being honored at the Mini-Maxwell Awards Dinner?
EC: It was a super cool experience at the Mini Maxwell Dinner, I got to meet a ton of really cool people from all around New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.

Q: How will you remember your experience playing at South? What moments stand out the most?
EC: I will remember my experience playing at South as one of the greatest times of my life. I loved South Football from start to finish, I was always excited to go out and practice with my teammates, even when it was difficult, having the team oriented goal to find success always pushed me to my best.

Some moments that stand out the most would have to be winning Conference my freshman and junior years at Dunellen High School. Also the two Battle of the Bridge games I got to play in were really awesome with the whole community coming out to support, it was a really cool atmosphere to play in. Winning the home state game vs Salem was an awesome feeling as well, getting the first state playoff win in about a decade for South was awesome.

Overall the best memory was all the practices, bus rides, and team dinners where I got to spend time with my friends and teammates. The bond with the team is the best thing to come out of South Football for me.
