Junior XC Co-Captain Lucy Reed Qualifies for the Meet of Champions

This past Saturday, November 9th, Lucy Reed finished in 8th place out of 134 girls in the Group 1 State Race at Holmdel Park. Her 20:04 finish qualified her for the Meet of Champions!

The Meet of Champions is the last and most competitive Cross Country race of the season for New Jersey. This is an enormous achievement that Lucy earned through her months of hard work and focus. The Meet of Champions will take place Saturday, November 16th at Holmdel Park.

For context: To qualify for the Meet of Champions as an individual, you must be in the top ten (10) fastest runners in your Group or be in the next thirty (30) individuals with the fastest times across all Groups who have not already qualified via their teams. So, Lucy being 8th qualified by being in the top 10!

Lucy is now only the second athlete (girls or boys) in South's school history to make it to the Meet of Champions in Cross Country! (Prior to this, Kelly Shaffer was the first and last one to achieve this in 2012, 2013 and 2014).

Election Day

Ms. Deiley's classes recently engaged in an election day scavenger hunt using information regarding voting history in the US.

More from Ms. Deiley's Classes: Students wrote letters to Veterans for Operation Gratitude, while the AP class engaged in a post WW1 roundtable discussion.

Eagles Insider

The South Hunterdon TV & Media classes produce Eagles Insider, a YouTube program highlighting students, staff and activities. The most recent episode featured a Halloween PSA, how to become a police officer, Make a Difference Day, therapy dogs and yearbook club.
