Key Club Visit to Lambertville Parks & Recreation

Members of the Key Club visited some trails maintained by Lambertville Parks and Recreation yesterday. They worked with Chairperson Mary Anne Borge as well as two land stewards to pull, clip and cut down two invasive species that are prolific through the forest - Japanese angelica tree and Burning bush.  By helping to reduce the numbers of these invasive species, space is opened up for native species to flourish which helps with supporting our local wildlife and insect populations.  These students were complimented on their willingness to learn and work.  It was a beautiful day to roll up their sleeves in the woods!

Student & Athlete of the Month

Congratulations to Grace Horvath, the October Student of the Month, and Isabella Woronicz, the October Athlete of the Month!

"Grace Horvath was a wonderful leader for our Fall Play. She came to rehearsal prepared, supported her fellow cast members, and delivered a great performance. She is a role model for our theatre program, and I am so proud of her growth this year."
- Laura DiStaulo, Theatre Teacher

"So far this year, Grace has brought great energy and enthusiasm to our math class. She is always engaged in class and demonstrates leadership qualities."
Dave Hallinan, Mathematics Teacher

"Isabella Woronicz is an outstanding candidate for Athlete of the Month. She has contributed 8 goals and 7 assists, consistently creating opportunities for our team’s scoring plays. Beyond her impressive stats, Isabella demonstrates exceptional leadership on and off the field, inspiring her teammates through her dedication and work ethic.

Her commitment to excellence and positive attitude make her a role model for others, embodying the qualities of a true Athlete of the Month."
- Kendall Storcella, Varsity Field Hockey Coach
We recently caught up with Grace Horvath about being named the student of the month.

Q: How does it feel to be recognized for your hard work both in and outside of the classroom?

GH: It’s been a privilege to be recognized for my work in and outside of the performing arts program! It’s really inspiring to be celebrated for being authentically yourself and trying to uplift others and leading by example.

Q: How has your creative experience at South Hunterdon helped shape your passion for the performing arts?

GH: Learning about how thoroughly you can tell a story while on stage and getting to create unique works of art with my peers has made theatre an all encompassing experience! It’s such a unique art form that Ms. DiStaulo and my classmates have helped me come to fully appreciate through being a part of the theatre community here at South.

Q: What motivates you to succeed as a South Hunterdon student

GH: Being a part of building the future of the performing arts program has been a huge motivator for me in the last few years. It’s really special to know that I’m helping to pave the way for future classes of artists and performers!
